Walking Street in Pattaya Is To St. Pauli in Hamburg

walking_street_thailandI was on a cruise ship on its world cruise voyage when I had my shot to see and experience Walking Street. We arrived in the port of Laem Chabang, a large port closest to Bangkok and to the beach resort town of Pattaya. Actually, it was not my first in Thailand. I had my first visit way back 18 years ago onboard a cargo ship. But shore leave privileges on cargo ship is somewhat different as compared to cruise liner, so I could not say anything about Thailand during that time.
Notable for the glittery display of large neon billboards, Walking Street offers the best nightlife experience in Asia frequented by locals, seamen and foreign tourists. From restaurants and beer bars to night clubs and go-go bars, you name it; you’ll find loads more to enjoy the night away in this world famous strip. Everyone knows what Walking Street is, has and what it is all about. A red-light district – checked; has the liveliest nightlife – checked; and it’s all about party and nightlife – checked.
Of the several red – light districts I’ve seen in Europe, I would say Walking Street is the liveliest spot. If St. Pauli is a not-to-be-missed corner in Hamburg, Germany; the Walking Street is a must-visit spot to hang around not only in Thailand but in Asia.
